I agree wholeheartedly with the folks who suggested Ani D. and Patti Smith
still can't stop listening to "Gung Ho") and Lucinda Williams. Another
woman I've listened to "forever" is Joan Armatrading. She has a very unique
style and I don't think there's an album of hers that I don't like! Also,
you wrote that you didn't try Rickie Lee Jones because you were afraid of
getting too close to Joni. What does that mean? She has her own style,
very different from Joni. Don't be afraid!!!!! Jump right in!!!
