We're not getting a Christmas CD this year, Sue. I'm fairly certain that
was to be the 3rd part of the orchestral trio of Joni projects, the
second being the one of her compositions exclusively, probably including
versions of "Hejira", "JOTMAS". "FTR" and "Be Cool" like we heard on tour
last spring. I wonder myself if THAT stuff is in the can yet....Joni
tends to be a little slow getting things out. ;~)
As far as the tribute CD is concerned, I'll be very suprised if it's out
before the end of the year. Most big New Releases have to be out by the
Tuesday B4 Thanksgiving to be ready for the shopping rush. Usually,
things are at a standstill from then until the second week of January. I
haven't seen mention of it on the Reprise site, nor on Jim's page, and I
emailed Reprise 2 weeks ago and they didn't get back to me. Neither my
local Tower nor HMV or Border's have ordered it yet, AND I saw a new
Janet Jackson video today on VH1 for another single altogether. I'm not
trying to be a bummer, but more express frustsation - where the hell is
this record???? Most of the tracks for this disc were finished EONS ago
(this project started not too long after the release of 'TI' - no joke!)
and I'm forever annoyed by the release process by which finished quality
recordings get shelved in order to focus on big sellers. Thoughts? -Chris
