I have a 93 Ford Explorer (sport), I had an old 73 VW superbeetle
convertible FUN car prior to that & before that a (forget the year- old)
safe Volvo sedan (with that imitation rolls royce kind of grill on the
front) that a mechanic misrepaired & blew up the engine & took no
responsibility for doing so.
I learned to drive on my Dad's RED! '66 Corvette Stingray (his midlife
crisis car). Years later when I drove it I could not believe how hard that
thing was to turn (no power steering & a huge front end. But it was fun as a
teenager crusing down to the NJ shore with the top down!).
I love driving my husband's 540 i? beemer (whoever said its hard to drive
them under 70 is right & he has the speeding tickets to prove that) but we
are trading it in (hello the monthly payments are equal to some people's
mortgage payments!) for a big ol Toyota Tundra truck better suited for these
mountain roads than the bmw with its silly low tires. And for the first time
ever, we're thinking automatic too! And since I am now accustomed & a little
spoiled by the bmw, I am insisting on leather interior!
And yeah, here in Southern California gas prices hover close to the $2 a
gallon price.
