Jim,
I've read about this first meeting in a few books. Joni and Graham both
discuss it in the CSNY biography, which puts the date as February 1968 in
Ottawa on the Hollies firrst North American tour. Joni was living in L.A.
by then - she moved there with Crosby in Fall 1967 - but was on a short tour
of Canada at the same time. Their accounts are a good page and a half long
(pgs. 59-60) and I'm too tired to type it out now but it's sweet. Graham
fell right into the basket the moment he met her and when the Hollies tour
took him to the West Coast shortly thereafter, he looked her up. Still
disputed to this day, even among the boys themselves, is whether they all
first met at Joni's house or at Cass Elliott's in Laurel Canyon.
