Thanks to Deb,WallyK for making me feel welcome to the list. Now I love DJRD as
a whole, but I must admit "The Tenth World" is my least favorite track. But my
daughter,Lindsey(named for Joni's song"The Wolf that lives in Lindsey"on
"Mingus")who has to be the worlds biggest(and youngest) Joni fan, loves the
TW,as a matter of fact, loves that whole album.(as do I).I understand "Paprika
Plains" may take many listenings to appreciate it fully, but once you do,it
takes you to another place, which is the magic of Joni's music.Let's not
forget, either, that it was "Paprika Plains" that caused Charles Mingus to give
Joni the phone call ,inviting her to do an album with him.("The Joni Mitchell
Companion"--Luftig) If the great Mingus thought enough of it to inspire him to
collaborate with her,I'd say it bears at least several more listenings on a
very good sound system before passing judgement.I have to go,Lindsey's bugging
me to put on "Ray Dad's Cadillac" from NRH! -------- Megan
