being a consummate weather freak, i can't help but jump in here.
the Hudson Bay Vortex is a low pressure system located in the upper layers
of the atmosphere. low pressure systems spin in a counterclockwise
direction, so the HBV keeps sending cold air from the artic towards canada
and the US. the HBV usually disappears during canadian summers, but last
summer the vortex remained active and, of course, now it's more active than
ever. because of the uninterrupted action of the HBV during more than a
year, last september meteorologists forecasted a particularly severe winter
for canada [except for the west coast] and the US east. so more of the same
for canada, and a glorious subzero winter for new york.
and this is the first year in ages i can't spend winter in new york!!!!!!
isn't fate cruel?
