I been having a listen to DED while riding the train
to work. Anyone who knows the DC-area Metro rail
system can tell you about some of the L - O - N - G
escalators in the subterranean stations, most notably
at the Dupont Circle and Wheaton stops. The latter is
my beginning and end point each day.

Last night I was ascending the escalator when "Smokin'
(Empty, Try Another)" began. It was incredibly fun
and interesting to ride the moving stairs while the
song played in my headphones -- all the more so
because the middle escaltor was being serviced by men
who were yelling status to each other from bottom to
top.

I guess you'd have to "be there" to really appreciate
it ... to my DC Joni compadres, try it sometime! It's
a totally "industrial" experience!
