Ive been following this thread and Im struck by two things. First it
absolutely does seem ludicrous. On the other hand this was precisely how the
Unibomber killed people. He sent small boxes and thick manilla envelopes. We
are moving into a new era in which all kinds of heinous things are small
enough to send through the mail to create poltiical statements and as such
victims. Thinks like radioactive isotopes. And the victims arent necessarily
connected to the statement that the perpetrators want to make.

I was struck by an old film that was on the other night. The total story of
which is irrelevant in actuality to the point. There were these people who
had large homes and their kids had moved out so all their friends "naturally"
were wondering why the people hadnt taken in borders (strangers willing to
pay rent who needed a room). The movie was about how the border becomes a
murderer (not of the rentors but of others in the neighborhood). He doesnt
kill the "roommates" he just goes around the neighborhood. Now Im not sure I
know anyone who takes in borders that they dont know. But years ago it was
common. It was also common to just drop packages of any size or weight into
the mailbox nearest you. Since the Unibomber it isnt. I believe that is when
the law was changed. The world is so different today it isnt funny. marcel
