I once moved in with a friend ( a violinist in the band I was in, Avalon
Sunrise) for convenience sake but it turned out to be a major disaster. I
managed to survive a flea epidemic, and also some minor flooding. But then,
my roommate started letting her multi-personality disorder alcoholic
boyfriend she met on the street start crashing with her ( my impression was
she didn't have very much self esteem and was trying to illadvisedly save
this guy). Most of the time he was drunk, I experienced his "other"
personalities, then my roommate would get into arguments with him, tell him
he had to leave, and when he wouldn't she would call the police, and when he
started giving them shit they would take him to a cell for the evening. Now
I had a great cat named Guinevere, who was a beautiful cat, and who played
fetch better than any dog I have ever seen. The second time the police
came, she got out and I never saw her again. This more than anything else,
really brought it home what a f$%%ed up situation this was.
I moved out as soon as I could.
Later, I was evicted from a beautiful historic Victorian mansion so Agnes
Scott College in Decatur could build a parking deck but that's another
story.
