There's no question that Watt's fundamentalism affected his stand on issues.

The Reagan Revolution of 1980 drew ideological battle lines on the
environment. James Watt, Reagan's first interior secretary, told his Senate
confirmation hearing that his apparent lack of              interest in
protecting species for future generations was due to his certainty that
Judgment Day would come before many future generations.
