You have a point. That is the way many people have interpreted His words. The
translaters
of course put their interpretations on things. There are many different Bibles and they
don't all say the same thing. Different translations, different interpretations,
different
people, different beliefs.
Jesus taught that God dwells within us, that we did not need an intermediary, that
heaven
was within, that we are God. At the same time he also said that the only way to the
Father is thru Him. The latter statment makes a nonsense of this first few. Was jesus
confused? Or maybe it is the translaters? Or even the readers, heaven forbid.
