Yes, I know what you mean. I watched "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" recently
and he was not a pretty face at all, in fact I hardly recognized him. He
completely gave himself away to become Hunter Thompson in that movie. I was
very impressed with his performance (and willingness to take on such a role),
even though the movie itself left me a little cold.
