Pete Best was the Beatles' drummer when they auditioned for
Parlophone in 1962. Love Me Do was one of the 4 songs
recorded for the audition, after which Best was sacked.
Ringo played on the version that became their first hit in
the UK, however, the version with studio drummer Andy
White was the one that went to No. 1 in the states on Tollie
records.
The original audition tape, long believed to be lost, is on
Anthology 1.
Ringo still hasn't forgiven George Martin for hiring an outside
drummer for his first studio gig.
