I just caught part of an interview with Eddi Reader (ex Fairground
Attraction) on BBC Radio 4 this morning. She was being asked how she coped
with her career and bringing up her 2 sons and she revealed that her brother,
who is also a singer-songwriter, is a great help and often baby-sits. She
said that he is much better at looking after the kids than she is herself -
for instance, he wakes them up in the morning by playing Joni Mitchell's Blue
whereas she just shouts at them to get up! Isn't that just the perfect way to
be woken up in the morning (not the shouting method) and why has it never
happened to me? Eddi also mentioned her friendship with the late Kirsty
MacColl who was also a divorced mother in similar circumstances.
I believe Eddi subscribed to this list for a while a few years ago. Maybe she
still lurks when she can find the time. If so, I enjoyed the songs I heard
you play this morning, Eddi.

PS Eddi is appearing in New York with Jimmy Page on 23rd and 24th Feb.
