hi deb,
regarding your original question about the song sheets on wally's site, I can see
your logic and what you're hoping... anyway, I have a little info on that...
I knew nothing of Joni's music publishing company back then but the info I do have is
that, among the various stuff concerning Joni that I had laying around the office back
then... her pub-stills, xerox copies of articles about her that she gave me to use for
advertising, her self-written bio, a handwritten set-list complete with correlating
tunings marked by each song which she left in the dressing room, I also had
'songsheets'/sheetmusic for UFG and TCG and at the bottom of both pages was the
copyright tag:
") 1967 GANDALF PUBLISHING CO.
Words and Music by Joni Mitchell"
exactly like it is on wally's site for these other songs... this would indicate to me
that he may have had actual sheet music to refer to, which, I believe, Joni faithfully
had made for each and every song she wrote back in those days, one at a time. (now
THAT would be a collectable! where wally would have got a hold of them is beyond me)
anyway, that's my best guess... :o)

cheers,
 pat

ps - it's also interesting to note that, while most are copyrighted to Gandalf, some
(at least one... 'Hunter') are for Siguomb and the 'Midnight Cowboy Song' is
registered for BMI.

pps - "Who has seen the wind scalloping the sea
Or gliding like a swallow over villages and trees?
"I have," said the willow,
"And I begged him please to stay, but he went away,
He went on his own one day." And I sing
"One love have I," and he sings, "Now it's goodbye,"
And I sing "Part of me dies until I see you again."
Who has seen the sun through a parasol of leaves,
Through scattered ruby cloud fires, through the silver wings of bees?
"I have," said the waters, "and I held his face to mine,
But he left in time, he went in his own good time."
And I sing "One love have I," and he sings,
"Now it's goodbye," and I sing
"Part of me dies until I see you again."
Who has seen the stranger in a coat of simple brown,
With his face of many faces, with his eyes turned out of town?
I have and I kissed him and I begged him please to stay,
But he went away, with the sun and the wind away.
And I sing "One love have I," and he sings,
"Now it's goodbye," and I sing
"Part of me dies until i see you again""
