As you are directly misquoting from my post I assume you are referring to
what I wrote. Instead of just calling him names and throwing insults which
doesn't accomplish anything I was trying to examine him objectively to see
why people would want to even listen to him because I really don't
understand why he is so popular, and also to try to figure out where he gets
his inspiration from and to determine whether or not it is trash or not.
It's much easier to criticize someone than to try to understand them. So I
was trying to play the devil's advocate and try to look at him from a
different perspective. And even after everything everybody has said, I
still don't really understand what draws people to like him.
I think people have a tendency(myself included) to live in a sheltered
world, free from the violence and hatred that exists, until something
happens to someone that you know. And it occurred to me that not all
criminals are deranged psychopaths, that often people commit crimes in the
heat of passion, or simply because they don't feel any anything and that
maybe by the simple virtue of being who he is, he helps create a greater
awareness of how sick the world really is. I was not seeking to excuse or
justify him nor was I seeking to condemn or attack him. The question of
whether he has a right to record "hateful trash" is a completely separate
moral issue which I was not debating nor do I want to. I don't know what
you were "thinking" about but it was not what I wrote.
