My Joni of choice this week (playing in my car) is Blue. Her interplay with JT on this
record is just SOOO amazing - her dulcimer and his guitar picking are wonderful
complements! And the combination of their voices, in the 1970 concert and on "Long Ago
& Far Away" on Mud Slide Slim, are simply some of the best duets ever!
After having seen James do River on the Tribute show, it certainly appears that Joni &
James are mutually respectful. Wouldn't it be grand for the two of them to tour
together the next time she goes out (assuming there's a next time)? After all the
combination of Joni & Bob Dylan was so gross! Not that Dylan was bad, but they didn't
compliment each other. Like having a glass of fine wine followed by a big ol' greasy
chili cheeseburger!
Anyway, it'd be great...Joni does a set, then takes several smoke breaks while James
does a set, then they close with a set together!
It ain't gonna happen, but a fella can dream, can't he? ;~)
