<<Julius, help me out...I had read in the paper earlier that in a case of life
imitating art, record stores have reported customers asking for music by the Soggy
Bottom Boys, and being told that it is not a real group. So are you saying that the
SBB on Letterman was just the guys who recorded the song for the movie?
Bob>>
I think it was the same guys who recorded "Man of Constant Sorrow" on the soundtrack,
but who knows? Dave introduced them as the "Soggy Bottom Boys" though. A bit of
marketing genius by those Coen Brothers, all this. They were the ones who put out the
press release with the info you read, I'll bet. It's working. The soundtrack is
flying off the shelves and is poised to break some sales records. The press and
national tv appearances by "The Boys" don't hurt the movie at the box office neither.
According to the sountrack liner notes, the musicians are:
"Man of Constant Sorrow"
Performed by The Soggy Bottom Boys
Dan Tyminski - Lead Vocal and Guitar; Pat Enright - Harmony Vocals; Harley Allen -
Harmony Vocals; Barry Bales - Bass; Jerry Douglas - Dobro; Chris Sharp - Guitar; Ron
Block - Banjo; Mike Compton - Mandolin; Stuart Duncan - Fiddle
Dan Tyminski is in Alison Krauss's bluegrass band, by the way.
