i'm just back from having the most delightful conversation with legendary
keyboardist rick wakeman. wakeman has just finished playing a series of
concerts in buenos aires and he was kind enough to receive a bunch of
friends and me backstage. we spoke about many things: his days with yes, his
relationship with howe, anderson and squire, and his next album. he said
that if he had enough money [!!!] he would buy an apartment in buenos aires.
nothing big: one bedroom and another room to put his grand piano. he said
this is the city where he has written his best music. [close to the edge? i
wanted to ask, but i thought better.]
we are in the middle of the buenos aires independent film festival, and
torontonian enfant terrible bruce labruce is the star of the moment. every
night this week from 1 am to 3 am [that's the time we go to the movies here]
his gay hardcore movies will be shown in the theater district. i swear i
think i saw my mother on opening night. my friend/daughter willie and i will
spend the wee hours of thursday morning indulging in labruce's visions;
namely, wall-to-wall dick.
and that's all the news that fits on this nippy autumn morning in BA. thanks
for watching.
