Long-lost John Phillips album released

A long-lost all-star album by the late John Phillips,
formerly with the Mamas & Papas, has just been
released.

The celebrity album 'Pay Pack & Follow' features
Phillips recording with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards,
Mick Taylor and Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones
and is produced by Jagger and Richards.

They started recording it in 1973 and was completed
over a period of six years, but the tapes disappeared
during Phillips' "lost" period when he struggled with
drink and drug problems.

At one point they were discovered in the cargo hold
of the QE2 and they later turned up beneath a pile of
rubbish in Keith Richards' shed.

"From that moment on I slept with them under my bed,"
said Phillips, working on the album shortly before his
death from heart failure at 65 last month.

Completed by original sound engineer Harvey Goldberg,
the album has been released by Eagle.

The previously unheard tracks - all Phillips originals -
include Mr Blue, She's Just 14, Pussycat, Zulu Warrior,
Oh Virginia and 2001 and are a total departure from his
work with Mamas & Papas.
