Hi, I am back from my southeast trip. It was SO wonderful. Everything in bloom & what great southern hospitality in that part of the world! I loved meeting & playing with Victor & his amazing fiddle playing friend Adam from Birmingham, meeting Holley who has a beautiful voice & spirit, SCBob who was even more fabulous to meet in person & who was extremely cool to drive all the way from SC for the house concert, Ken & Steve who should not be lurkers cuz they have a lot to offer us (btw, Steve you are a wonderful writer, please post more than once every decade). Yes sitting in between Victor & Jeff (cello & harp) for Irene was an amazing musical moment I will always treasure. The Inman Park festival was one of those sound challenges that every musician deals with from time to time (deafening feedback, no monitors so we couldn't hear each other, not to mention the fiddle player with only three strings!) but we prevailed. The rehersal was wonderful - wish ya'll could have been there with us. Went to Nashville after that. WOW. Music City, Mecca. I had always wanted to visit but was unprepared for the amazing level of incredible songwriters, musicians that I heard in showcases there. My jaw was constantly on the floor. People who I had never even HEARD their names who were some of the best acts I had ever heard in my life. Seems to be a common occurance there & it sure isn't about just country music anymore either. Lots of alt country rock stuff that I loved. Though I did listen to a steady diet of country stations on my many drives through Georgia & Tennessee. Man those country writers sure know how to write tearjerking songs. Ended up staying at a friend of a friend's space right on Music Row. Needless to say the songwriting vibes were coming down like rain & I was bombarded with inspiration & got very little sleep. Oh well, I am catching up now. Wrote a song called, suprise, "Nashville". Then on to the coast of North Carolina (Cape Fear) for the Folk Festival with lots of my fellow (or what is the female version of fellow?) Indiegrrls, one of whom was from Atlanta knows & naturally adores Victor! (Lauren Fincham). Seems every musician in Atlanta knows & loves Victor. Small world all over the place. Well I am glad to be home cuz there is no place like home. There was no way I could catch up with all the digests so I just had to throw them overboard. Did I miss anything? (Though I did read the house concert reviews, & sent them to Jeff who was genuinely thrilled by how much you liked his stuff). Paz, we will take you up on that Roadhouse visit for sure. I am thinking how cool it would be to record La Roadhouse in your part of the world..... ******************************************** Kate Bennett www.katebennett.com sponsored by Polysonics www.polysonics.com Discover the Indies at Taylor Guitars: http://www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/bennett.html ********************************************
