Chuck Berry, 1963:
If everybody had an ocean
Across the U. S. A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
Like Californi-a
You'd seem 'em wearing their baggies
Huarachi sandals too
A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
Surfin' U. S. A.

Bob Dylan, 1965:
You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

What is
it precisely about him that's supposed to be so
innovative? I don't find his music particularly "new"
- - his music IMO is pretty predictable. Is it the
lyrics? I agree that Joni does pay him tribute, and
I'm not trying to be sarcastic, or a pain in the ass -
I just don't get it! Somebody please enlighten me!

Bobby's world isn't all sunshine and sand. Neither is mine.

ps. No offense to Chuck Berry.
