Interesting site Paul. He dosen't mention the influence Dylan cover
versions had on Dylan himself. The House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals
was the first folk/rock record a good year and a half before Dylan went
electric. I think Alan Price's organ playing on that record influenced
Dylan to use organ so prominently on Like A Rolling Stone, Positively 4th
Street etc. The Byrds fusion of folk and mersybeat on Mr Tambourine Man
and Jimi Hendrix's psychedelic All Along Watchtower changed the wayDylan did
those songs.
I can't go to the Dylan convention in Manchester but I am going to see the
man himself in Kilkenny next month on his third Irish show this year.
