When I was a kid, in about Grade 7 or 8, they offered
home economics to the girls and shop (wood and metal
working) to the boys - that was "just the way it was"
and few people, if any, even questioned it, although
some might grumble quietly. Now, boys and girls take
both. My daughter had a lot of fun with woodworking.
