Kakki Writes: << Marian was almost ready to drop when we arrived but once she got out the guitar she instantly got a second (or third) wind. Rick, Brad, and Clark were open-mouthed at the beauty of her performances of a wide spectrum of Joni, Jonatha and even some Richard Farina (Steve ;-) Jennifer is also very talented on guitar with a gorgeous voice and she and Marian did a few unbelievably beautiful duets together. Our Clark played us a few of his beautiful original songs, too, and I wish I would have had a professional set-up to record the event. Rick kept a setlist which will give you an idea of the incredible music we heard and I am waiting impatiently, er looking forward, to his report ;-D >> Coyote Rick belatedly obliges: I hope the Joni-only folks don't mind my not marking this NJC. To me there's nothing more Joni content than the music she creates. It's quite a challenge to read these notes, but here goes: Marian: Free Man In Paris Marian: Lucky Girl (My Request) Marian: Moon at the Window Marian: The Wolf that Lives in Lindsey Marian: Cherokee Louise Marian and Jennifer: Bramble in the Rose (Barbara Roth - sp?) Clark: True Friend (Clark Carlton) Clark: Love You At Least For Tonight (Clark Carlton) Clark: Believe Me Brother (Clark Carlton) Marian: Night Ride Home Marian: Ray's Dad's Cadillac Marian: Linger (JB) Marian and Jennifer: Children of Darkness ( Richard Farina) Marian and Jennifer: A Solan' (Peter, Paul, and Mary) Marian and Jennifer: LaLaLaLaLaLaLa (A Marian Original) Day After Day (Joni's First Demo) Wow. What an amazing night. Many thanks to Kakki for her superb hospitality and championship organization skills. Thank you seems inadequate to Clark, Marian, and Jennifer for sharing their amazing talent, and of course, Joni (and the others) for the words and music. Also, thanks to Air France for taking such good care of Marian's first class riding guitar! Don't dismay. As Mr. Dulson eluded, you too can hear these and other Marian favorites at Jonifest Los Angeles 2002 - A Trip to Mecca. Details TBA. No regrets, Coyote Rick Casa Alegre Hollywood, California
