<<I'm not dissing. >>
'Preciate that, Julius...I didn't really feel dissed, and I understand that if
somebody else was doing this project, they would consider it even blasphemous to
consider the melody to "Pork Pie Hat" as a Joni song.
By the same token, if the first time they heard "Cool Water" or "Why Do Fools Fall In
Love" was on Joni's record, they might want to include covers of THOSE songs. It's
strictly arbitrary, and I have no ambitions of being The Smithsonian or the Library of
Congress.
And I suppose my skin is a mite thin regarding the project, because I have spent
hundreds of dollars and hours creating a database and a collection we can be proud of.
I'm not complaining, because it's a massive amount of fun, extremely educational, and
it has turned me on to some GREAT music and enabled JMDLer's from around the world to
participate and be a part. (Insert Kumbaya chorus here)
And for what's it worth, Wally Breese had a similar collection on tape titled "People
Sing Joni & Joni Sings with People" that was his version of "Covers & Contributions".
He included Twisted, Pork Pie Hat, and How Do You Stop, so I figured if it's good
enough for the father of JoniMitchell.com, it's good enough for me!
<<I'm glad to have something Joni-related to discuss>>
Amen, bro! High five and a big macho bear hug to you from South Carolina!
