Just thought I'd let those of you who are interested know that I'm changing
my email.
Although I'm not the most frequent of posters to the list, I've been in
contact with quite a few people off-list, and I'd hate for anyone to think
that I'd disappeared. Also, when I next post, you'd all think it was
someone new.
Overnight, a few weeks ago, I got a deluge of spam, and it's just kept
coming at about 20 or so messages a day. This meant that a lot of new
personal email got bumped onto another page, and I lost track of what I'd
replied to and what I hadn't. If I do a spam filter, it filters out the
jmdl, which would never do! Although I'll still check the old one, I'll try
to divert stuff to the new address.
I figured that a Joni related name was in order. But what name?
First I thought I'd go with one of my favourite songs, but Coyote is already
taken, and I don't think I really want to be known as Strange Boy! I toyed
with Don Juan's Reckless Son, but that's a bit of a mouthful, and I don't
really feel like a Kingpin.
Then a flash of inspiration! I'm known amongst my friends for having a
wardrobe that is almost completely blue. Not a conscious choice, but if I
ever have to choose, I always go for blue. So why not Blue Boy? It's not
exactly one of my top ten, but the name also gives a nod to 'Blue' the
album.
So as soon as I've posted this, I'm unsubbing and then resubbing as
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Since deciding on this, I've noticed that the new Ron Sexsmith album is
called Blue Boy, so there's another reason!
A friend tells me that blueboy is slang for a porn star in Russian, but I
guess I'll just have to take his word for that and be careful who I email in
Moscow!
While I'm posting, I might as well do some shameless promotion. A friend of
a friend is starting to do some gigs and has put together an album of tracks
that some of you might be interested in. If you want to try out a new
artist, go to www.peoplesound.com and then in 'Peoplesound artists' search
for Carl Eaton. You should eventually get redirected to his homepage where
you can download a few of the songs from his album for free. You can also
buy the album through the site.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks he'll be performing at the Kashmir Klub,
which is fast becoming a regular London haunt for some jmdlers. Some of us
met there on Tuesday in honour of Debra coming over from NYC. And I think a
small fan club is forming among us for one of the performers - Lizzie Segal.
Anyway, better go
