Thumbs up from me. I had always loved Chinese Cafe, but didn't really
listen to the other songs very much until about four years ago, when I felt
inspired to try to learn Moon At The Window after hearing a live version on
one of the tape trees and finding a transcription of it by Pat Hillis in Sue
McNamara's Guitar Files (thanks Pat and Sue!!!). I hadn't played my guitar
in more than 10 years at that time and it was the first new Joni song I
attempted, so it has a special place in my heart. I didn't really
appreciate some of the other songs until I tried to transcribe them for
guitar some months later, though. There's something about transcription
work that can really change how I feel about a song - it's like becoming
friends with the music/lyrics, instead of just acquaintances. I like the
moodiness of Ladies' Man and Man To Man, the beautiful tuning of the title
cut, the unusual poetry of Underneath The Streetlight, the interesting chord
changes and melody of Love. It's a great album and deserves a better listen
from those who say they don't like it.
