Some on the list have discussed that the "Don Juan" in the album title
refers to the Carlos Castandea character, Don Juan Matus, but I've always
thought that her reference is to the legendary 17th Century Don Juan, the
"reckless libertine." In the song Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Joni seems
to be identifying with him, but in the song Off Night Backstreet, she
expresses the painful downside of involvement with a "Don Juan" prototype.
I think the song fits.
