Thanks for mentioning this, Colin. I didn't realize that Joan Sims had died
- she was a great comic actress. She didn't seem to have been as active
lately, and I'm sorry to read that she died lonely. I remember her in many
British films in which she played a wide variety of parts, but also in the
Carry On series, where she was part of a peerless comedy/farce troupe
(including Sid James, Hattie Jacques, Charles Hawtrey, and Kenneth
Williams). Also, in the same week, we lost not only Jack Lemmon (somehow the
world won't seem quite the same without him) and Carroll O'Connor (ditto).
Some wise person once said that we all know we're going to die, but we don't
believe it. Somehow the passing of icons seems to bring us closer to the
turnstile ourselves....
Goodbye, Joan, Jack, and Carroll! And thank you!
Roberto
