Those cds are nothing new.  My Mom in the 50s on a limited budget used
to buy albums of Hit Parade songs done by others - they sort of sounded
like the real thing, and she could get 12 songs on a monaural album for
only $2.99. I actually learned a lot of 50s music off of these albums.

They were packaged more honestly though back then - it was clear she was
buying an album of sound alike songs by sound alike singers, not the
real stars.

But it worked on our limited means in the 50s.  If I were as thrifty as
Mom was, I'd be rich.  But no, I have to have the real thing...
