Not at all. There are many Muslim singers and musicians. Indeed Cat or Yusuf Islam as
he is now called appeared on the 1997 albumI Have No Cannons That Roar singing The
Little Ones in support of the children who perished in Sarajevo and Dunblane. He was
also due to sing at Live Aid some years after he gave up pop stardom, however he was
denied an opportunity because Elton John overran.
(At least thats the official explanation). He also appears on a new album to be
released soon.

As for the remark about it being considered frivolous. Remember he quit to study and
teach the Islamic faith. He had just given up the pop business to devote himself to
his faith. To then continue singing and releasing records may have been considered
rather frivolous by his peers and might have resulted in some people questioning his
intentions and motives. It would be like the Archbishop of Canterbury releasing a
tribute album to Joni Mitchell. Not out of the question but a bid odd nonetheless!!
In any case it is his decision on whether he should sing or not. Just like if Joni
quit Im sure we would respect her decision.

Kevin (Not a muslim just a music lover)

P.S. Happy anniversary mate.
