well, it's pretty chilly and windy down here. windchill factor minus 10
[what's that in farenheit? 16 F?] we've been having some splendid black
frost almost every day. the bad news is that 13 people have died because of
the cold weather in patagonia, where temperatures have been 40 below for the
last 15 days. food and fuel are scarce. but we buenos aires folks are nice
and cozy and eating hot soup.
i've just returned from the opera and american bass samuel ramey was telling
me that it's so humid in this city that no matter how many layers of clothes
you wear you feel as if you were taking an endless cold shower. pretty funny
for an opera singer.
