Now, just having got all nostalgic about Syreeta and the birth of my
daughter Hannah in Malacca in 1984, I've been to amazon and discovered that,
whaddya know, there is this new album out this year: "The Essential
Syreeta" which, of course, has "Spinnin and Spinnin" on it. My last amazon
purchase was the third copy of "Blue" that I've bought - first the vinyl LP,
then the cassette and now the CD. I guess there must be one or two fanatical
JMDLRs out there who have got every vinyl, tape and CD version of every
album Joni has ever recorded and, hell, why not?.
I remember, when, as teenagers in the late 60s we used to spend every school
lunch break in the local record store, just dreaming about buying those
albums, like "Song to a Seagull", "Clouds" and "Crosby, Stills and Nash".
Each purchase was a major decision and a big investment. You NEVER bought
one that one of your friends had already, because you could always go round
to his house and listen to it and vice versa, which is why I never bought so
many great albums, like "Sergeant Pepper's". Now, it's all so easy and so
cheap. ONE-CLICK.
