This is true. Many of the ads that annoy the crap out
of people have been shown to be the most effective -
simply because people remember the brand name.
(Remember "ring around the collar", anyone? Not sure
if this was used outside Canada and the US.) This
apparently *made* a lot of people (but not me!) decide
to buy Wisk detergent because, by golly, if it can
remove ring-around-the-collar, it must be good!
Some of the ads that a lot of people really Love
(can't think of one just now!) are less effective
because, even though people remember the ad, they
don't remember the name of the product and that's what
it's all about.
