Actually Colin, while I think you're right for the UK show, I think she 
probably does have some external help with some of the links, notably her 
endless stock of synonyms for "not very good" - my favourite recently has 
been "who is the pothole on your information superhighway?"  I doubt she 
comes up with ALL of them.  Still, she's pretty sharp dealing with the 
contestants' replies to her questions: today she asked an expatriate Brit why 
he left London; he replied "because all the women are like you Anne!"  There 
was a pause while the audience gasped and tittered.  Anne remained poker 
faced, and after a few seconds came up with "So, you couldn't get a date?"  
It wasn't slick or sharp enough to have been scripted, but was mightily 
impressive on the hop.
