Found the answer -- this was not meant to show the number of hits on the article layout. It's for the Hits column in the list layout.
I don't know why this wouldn't be included on the article view as well. Second, I have it set to Show in both the Global Config and Menu Link params and it's not showing. Does anyone have any info about this setting? Am I missing something?
