True, but I think it needs buy in from the Joomla Core team.
The current structure is just too hard to break into, in my viewpoint.  But
if they opened up the components they don't really want to work on anyway
and invited sponsorship, I think it could be a good thing.

But again, it means giving up control.  And no one likes doing that.
