Donna is correct.
Varnish is not native to Joomla.
Our premium servers now use Varnish and we are getting great results.

Some people will cache the whole site (except forms) for the public, and show the logged-in users the non-cached site.

If your site changes infrequently, you could produce static HTML pages from the Joomla site, and re-output the static pages when you make changes.
