You should be able to do something like this with a rewrite rule in an .htaccess file. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3542280/how-to-remove-directory-from-url-using-mod-rewrite and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9516852/remove-directory-from-url-htaccess-apache for a couple of examples.
