Hello All, I think i understand Ibrahim's angle of thinking but it is obvious our primary reason for creating a website is to keep in touch. I would be proud if we had a special website too but face book provides exactly that . so why bother?
The truth be told, face book will always be more efficient for us to keep in touch and it will just keep getting better. There is so much headache with creating the features and conveniences facebook has to provide and the most interesting part is, we don't even care how they do it. My brother, that is comparative advantage at work. Leave things for people who produce it most most effectively and efficiently and use it. We have our time to ourselves to do whatever pleases us and we also get to reach old mates. I have reached old mates that i have not seen since 92 and everyone can use it. Big thanks to facebook. Mmaete Ojo even found me yesterday. I used to think from Ibrahim's angle if anyone remembers a similar mail i sent a long time ago about the facebook craze. I look back now and wonder which planet my thinking was coming from. I am sure many schools who had web sites like we did would have abandoned it for facebook (without realizing it). We can make an attempt to contribute and build a new site. i am game as ever for anything Command but really we can't replicate the value face book provides. Which means, it will be another feeble attempt that would likely fade away. So to answer Ibrahims question "Whats in FACEBOOK that cannot be in CSSJ.org?" 1. the effort to produce it cannot be. 5 naira per person won't get close 2. The multiple features and functions makes it difficult to reproduce. It serves beyond CSSJ. It is just like carrying a phone with multiple sim cards (i hate that phone but i will eventually get 1) 3. It is an up-hill task to beat a solution that works for us all. Its possible but really unproductive because we would be forcing it. 4. I think a drive to compare Facebook to Command is actually sending the wrong message. It is like comparing David to Goliath (not really though David beat Goliath). But you get what i mean. The discussion would yield much if we focused on "What happened to CSSJ.org Website" If you are suggesting we recreate our website to include general details like names of all students and general information etc and also to have a web presence again. Maybe it could work. But to create a facebook wanna be. The wahala is just too much. There migh even be a way to incorporate your facebook profile in websites as an applet. Who knows? Thats my thinking and I am sure Ibrahim would appreciate other points of view. Have a nice day. Hello All, It beats my heart to know that all Excommandoes are running down to facebook to load their various profiles,where as we have a www.commandjos. org languishing and a www.commandjos. com that vanished with out a trace It is truly a BIG SHAME that a school as big as command jos does not have a standard and well defined website. For the originator of cssj.org,i have to give kudos to you because i believe in your vision The cssj.com was unique in all ways,even facebook couldnt stand the Commandoe in it,but it went out of existance,with a reason that cannot be attached to it.If its finance that is the problem behind it,a mere donation of 5Naira from all Excommandoes on the face of the earth will definately keep the website running for years to come. Its a shame to see our LOGO there and not fully represented in our site,including old pictures while in Cssj,all these should me in our website,if you check the command group in facebook,there are lots of people there that are not excommandoe, they simply joined becuase they have easy access without having the true commandoe blood running in their veins thats why i asked the question whats in face book that cannot be in Cssj.org?
