Fellow Commandos, Complimts. Permit me to add my voice to this discussion. I agree wit most of the views earlier highlighted, but my response is how do we achieve this? Simple My point(s): 1. We should use the opportunity of the Commandant's visit to the Abuja party to ask relevant questions which will help us prepare a blueprint of what we can/should do for CSSJ 2. Funds required to bring the commandant to Abuja & the event proper is yet to be raised. Thus, l will like to use this medium to once again appeal to all concerned whether in Abuja or not to assist. 3. The Lagos & PH branches (US branch too) should try and send 1 or 2 persons to the Abuja event. 4. Questions for the Commandant should be sent to my box. These questions will be put to the Commandant and his response will be communicated to all. 5. The establishment of the National Exco should be paramount to all. We can easily begin by asking the 4 main branches Lagos, Abuja, PH and US/North America (UK we are expectant) to nominate 2/3 persons each and within this 8-12 wisemen/women, the most senior set member (based in Nigeria) should be the National Chairman. 6. Implementation of the COJOSA Constitution and adopted by all branches 7. All major activities for CSSJ should be spearheaded by the National Exco. Monetary donations/contributions should not be made to CSSJ directly (for accountability)rather, any project should be identified and executed directly by us (this was the approach adopted by the '88 set). 8. Issues concerning the COJOSA Account should be laid to rest. The Branch Account should be different from the National. 9. The Lagos branch which appears to be the most organised should kindly conclude the process of achieving the above (which they have already started).
Yes We Can .... if the Lions stand out from the sheep. Where do U belong? Thank you. ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, November 13, 2010 12:13:39 PM Subject: Re: A MUST READ! Re: [Jos Commandos] The State of Command Jos Dear all, I count it a rare priviledge to belong to this group. I have followed the discussions on this issue keenly. A lot has been said, so I will just try to make my point(s). First I want to commend a few people for their efforts. they are not unnoticed. Kadiri, Vivian, Bamidele, Bimbo, the generality of the Lagos chapter and of course Daniel. You guys are doing a great job! Now, this is not the first time this issue is coming up. I have come to understand that we do a lot of talking and when it is time to act, we simply go mute. In October 2009, a few of us from the class of 88 finally put together a sum of 740K from 21 out of about 110 members after almost two years and bought 10 sets of computers for the school. I recall Tony Akhidenor's e mail urging everyone to visit his FB page to see the pictures and also to join in the contributions. I know for sure that no one said anything about that till today. Now the time has come again for us to show that we really have the interest of the school at heart. If there is a group on FB with up to 485 members, I think it is a good avenue to reach out to people to make their contributions. Imagine if we can get another 21 members of each graduating set to contribute 500k, we will be talking about 10million naira. I know we can do much better than that though. This will go a long way to do something tangible for starters. I implore you all, let us use the Abuja meeting next month to actualise a dream borne out of our collective desire to see CSSJ up there again. I plan to be there. Earlier this year, I had the priviledge of speaking with the USA group via a conference call. A lot of things were enumerated. What are we doing about them? We can set ourselves a tiomeline of 6 months to put a committee in place that will source for funds and collate all ideas and suggestion on the project(s) to embark on. Once again, I hope it will noit be out of place to use this medium to appreciate all those 20 others in my set that made the computer project possible. We promised to go back last April but we could not. This time around let us join the larger house to make it bigger and better. God bless you all and God bless CommandJos. Finally, happy eid-el-Kabir to all our moslem brothers and sisters. Best Regards.
