Making life easier was the motivation for me to work on the performance. For frequently used cases like moving a node this way highly successful. I know the patch currently sits with Dirk as there are cases when it produces repaint artifacts, but than can be fixed. The want for a cleaner architecture was driven by this very piece of work.
