This is not open source SW but at least Freeware w/o additional advertisement or something like that (no crippleware, no nagware, no ....). Geosetter has a lot of user-friendly ways to get the synchronization of the pictures with the GPS track(s). Within the last year I made a lot of good experience with the program and didn't have real severe crashes of the programm or damaged photos. And: Geosetter not only supports Google to show the GPS traces and location of the pictures but also OSM maps (OSMarender and Mapnik)!
