Dear friends, I'd like to share with you about my elder. Well,with my elder,I mainly share 3 things: My relationship with God My relationship with others My responsibilities Since I am quite weak,I need someone to be accountable to in all of these. She has a deep love for God's Word that is contagious.She is much elder to me in age and experience.She reads a lot. So far,she has never made any decisions for me.She helps me see the pros and cons of the options I have in hand.She leaves me to take the decision myself. She helps me look at my life objectively when I am overwhelmed.Although my elder doesn't seem to be "gifted",she clears many of my unexpressed doubts.That I feel is because she is a woman of prayer. Another advantage is I can learn from her mistakes and not repeat them.My previous elder used to say,"A wise man learns from the mistakes of others,an average man learns from his own mistakes,a foolish man never learns from anyone's experience."
Before deciding about an elder,I think one should pray about it at least for a month since it is a major decision.Even after finding the elder,it is our duty to pray for her/him each day.
