Dear Friends
Mary, sister of Martha and Lazarus, and Mary Magdalene are trade off quite often by many preachers and teachers. It is not correct both are different person.
Some times these two are also equated with the woman caught in adultery by the Jews and brought before Jesus. This also is also wrong as there is no major clue to arrive at such a conclusion.
The Mary who anointed Jesus was Mary, sister of Martha and Lazarus if we take the account of John 12: 1-7 in conjunction with Matt 26: 6-13 and Mark 14: 3-9 and Luk 7: 36-50
Mary Magdalene is categorically distinguished with a parenthesis in Luk 8:2.
