Well, that's not true - they are unsupported. In my personal tests
I've seen that they work in other browsers - but I can't guarantee it.
At least not until we get a full cross-browser solution up and tests
in the test suite that test these points specifically.

If you're feeling adventurous you're welcome to use them within that
context - but that's totally up to you :-)
