The problem is that IE doesn't give us computed filter values (which
is what we would need to determine the opacity specified in the
stylesheet). The best we can do is get a filter value specified
directly on an element.

It's been a while since we've looked back into the problem - but if
there's been advancements we'd certainly like to fix it, if possible.
