Correct John, I also do that on my NWMatcher selector engine I should
have said "most" instead of "every".

I was aware jQuery does not suffer this problem, but the solution I
used is somehow different:

- save the element offending id="length"
- remove the offending id from element
- do the DOM call you need (GEBTN)
- restore the offending id on the element

This technique also works for recovering overwritten "submit()"
methods in forms.
