The fact is that there is an ambiguity between the selector and the
html.

It is as understandable to consider that an empty string signifies an
empty selector, so we return the current object, which is document, as
to consider that an empty html string.

I don't think it can be seen as a bug and moreover, the behaviour as
empty selector is more understandable. You still have the append
( string ) syntax.
